Everyone is tempted by his own desires as they lure him away and trap him. Then desire becomes pregnant and gives birth to sin. When sin grows up, it gives birth to death (James 1:14-15 GW).
Conception occurs when two things meet. Human conception happens at the point the egg and sperm unite. Conception, the second stage that may lead to catastrophic failure, occurs when desire meets decision to do that fleshly thing.
Human conception rarely happens in public. It’s private. Likewise, conception of sin is usually a hidden, secret, private pleasure. Energy is released when we conceive sin—it happens once the decision is made to move forward.
A commercial comes on television and the desire for Dunkin Donuts is conceived. I get in my car and drive there for donuts and decaf coffee. It doesn’t matter if it has snowed. I’ve even gone in my pajamas.
Now, even after conception, we can stop with the help of God.
Is there something you need to ask God to help you with? Is there something that you’ve conceived in your heart that you don’t want to go through with? Ask Him for help. He’ll help you; He’ll show you the way out.
