Lots of people turn to bottled spirits to cope with Holiday stress—which makes the family gatherings even more stressful. Ephesians 5:18 says, “Don’t get drunk with wine, for that leads to wild living; but always be filled and stimulated with the Holy Spirit.”
The power of the Holy Spirit led and protected Mary, the mother of Jesus, throughout the impossible situation months leading up to the first Christmas.
- What is your impossible situation?
- What is the condition of your family right now?
Zachariah, the father of John the Baptist, was initially filled with fear and doubt at the angel’s announcement that he and his wife, Elizabeth would have a child in their old age. As a result of his doubt, he was struck mute and could not talk for a whole year. As Zachariah was dedicating his son, John, Zachariah was filled with Holy Spirit and prophesied!
Because of doubt and unbelief, have you lost your spiritual voice? The Holy Spirit wants to restore it!
Zachariah’s wife, Elizabeth well advanced in years, but she received strength by the Holy Spirit to conceive. I love what happened when Mary visited her after Mary conceived.
Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy. Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things which were told her from the Lord.”
Our hope and prayer this Christmas is that you and your family will be filled with the Holy Spirit, filled with peace and the power of God to overcome and prevail.
