There’s a great principle throughout the whole Bible. It’s a principle about the importance of staying fresh in all we do for God. It is human nature to grow tired of most everything we do.
- We see it in sports: rookies versus veterans.
- We see it on the job: “Anyone can do a good job the first year.”
- We see it in marriage.
- We see it in raising children.
“Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
The people and the priest had become weary of tithing. They still did it, but their hearts were not in it.
Is it possible to tithe and still, in some measure, feel like we are under a curse? Yes, if we scorn it and don’t give it joyfully.
