When I treat God right on Sunday, but I treat everyone else wrong all week long, my tithe won’t work. I still won’t be blessed.
Remember the words of Jesus; “If you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.”
Malachi chapter 2 deals with family and marriage issues. He touches on marital unfaithfulness. He confronts the idea of a believer willfully seeking out and marrying an unbeliever which is prohibited in the Old and New Testament.
He concludes by saying if you are living that way without remorse, don’t bother bringing your tithes to the House of God.
In chapter 3, Malachi pretty much touches on the way we treat everyone else. When we tithe with the right heart, living in right relationship with God and others, then our tithing will be powerful.
- It’s blessed of God.
- The Kingdom of God advances.
- Our faith grows.
If tithing is no longer working for you, ask God to show you what the problem is. Whatever God reveals to you, own it, correct it, repent of it, bring it under the blood of Jesus, and God will bless you again!
If you do that, there will come a day when you clearly see the difference between those who tithe with a right heart and those who don’t.
“You have said, ‘It’s pointless to serve God. What do we gain if we meet his standards or if we walk around feeling sorry for what we’ve done? So now we call arrogant people blessed. Not only are evildoers encouraged, they even test God and get away with it.’” Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord paid attention and listened. A book was written in his presence to be a reminder to those who feared the Lord and respected his name. “They will be mine,” says the Lord of Armies. “On that day I will make them my special possession. I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then you will again see the difference between righteous people and wicked people, between the one who serves God and the one who doesn’t serve him.
