He is A Daily God

Jesus prayed to the Father, “Give us our daily bread today.”[1] He also said, and I’m paraphrasing, “Don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own challenges. Focus on today and I will take care of you tomorrow.”[2]

Our giving God gives us the right amount of grace for each day—and that even includes our worst days. No matter how bad things get, you will never have a day where the grace of God is not enough for that day.

The Children of Israel were in the wilderness for 40 years.

  • Where are we going to get water for this crowd of one million? God said, “ I’ll bring water out of a rock!”
  • Where are we going to find food for this massive group? God said, “I’ll drop bread from the sky every day! But don’t start boxing it up for the future. Take only as much as you need for each day. If you don’t trust me and box it anyway, it’ll turn into worms!
  • Their clothes didn’t fall apart.
  • Their shoes didn’t wear out.
  • They didn’t have a lot, but they had what they needed every day.

And this is a principle throughout the Bible. God will give you, your daily bread each and every day. We just have to trust Him.

This is one of the reasons we tithe. By tithing our first-fruits, we are declaring to God that we trust Him. By tithing, we exercise our faith in God and we will see Him come through time and time again.

This week a friend of mind told me he had recently begun tithing. For over a year he had been praying for a new job, a better fit for him. Two weeks after he began to tithe, he got a much better job. He said, “When are we going to actually trust in God?”

Our God is a giving God, who gives us what we need every single day.
