Maturity—Avoiding Catastrophic Failure

Maturity—Avoiding Catastrophic Failure

Maturity, when full grown, gives birth to death. Maturity is the growing stage and the third stage that may lead to catastrophic failure in your life. From the point of human conception, a child grows exponentially from two cells to a seven and a half pound baby. That’s a lot of growth in nine months.

Sin follows the same process. In time, sin grows to the place it can no longer be hidden. It begins to control our lives, and we spin out of control. It may surprise you to know that some of the people you see at Wheeler Mission, right here in Indianapolis are former professionals—educated people who at one point had lots of money. At some point in their lives a desire grew to maturity and took them off the rails. Sin eventually brings death.

Blessed are those who endure when they are tested. When they pass the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him (James 1:12 GW).

Some often think that pastors don’t understand—they’re perfect. That’s a myth—it’s just not true. There are catastrophic failures in the church, and in the lives of pastors.

James 1:16-17 says, My dear brothers and sisters, don’t be fooled. Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars. The Father doesn’t change like the shifting shadows produced by the sun and the moon.

Hold fast to your confidence in God. Hebrews 10:35 says, So don’t lose your confidence. It will bring you a great reward. You need endurance so that after you have done what God wants you to do, you can receive what he has promised.
Your Heavenly Father wants to help you! Ask Him for whatever you need help with today.
